Bad news: Horizakura broke his collarbone and is out of commision for the month! Let's all wish him a complete and speedy recovery. Of course this means I won't have any tattoo updates for a little while, I'd say at least 3-4 weeks.

Being tattooed by tebori, how long would you say the process of getting a full back tattoo would take? I am not entirely familiar with Japanese Tattooing, but is the black background necessary? I'm dying to get a tattoo of Kajiwara Genda Kagesue on my back, but I'm I only want the figure (plus the falling blossums as a back ground). Image of the Kuniyoshi print can be found here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/fd/Kajiwara_Genda_Kagesue_for_Umegae.jpg/269px-Kajiwara_Genda_Kagesue_for_Umegae.jpg

My back took about 80 hours to complete, spread over 2 years. The black background is not required, I've seen plenty of back pieces without it.
